From 13 to 15 October 2026, the 28th General Conference for Mass and Weight will take place there. The Swiss delegation will be led by METAS director Philippe Richard, as the institute announced on 9 October.
The preparatory documents contain draft resolutions, including a version updated in July. At the present time, these are templates for the forthcoming conference; they do not yet make a decision.
The document collection includes new procedural rules and a work programme for 2028 to 2031. In the first day's programme, Richard is also listed for the financial report of the International Office for Mass and Weight.
The CGPM is the top decision-making body of the BIPM. The states are voting on scientific, institutional and financial issues; each country has one vote. According to the event programme, the conference begins on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.. Parts of the opening are planned as a live stream.
