On 14 October 2026, he took note of the results of the agreement on the planned law on communication platforms and search engines. The UVEK is to develop a message by the end of June 2027; the preliminary draft is supplemented by youth protection measures.
Very large platforms and search engines will have to assess in future what risks their services will create or strengthen for minors. From this analysis they will derive measures to mitigate the risks.
Users are supposed to be able to easily report illegal content; according to the decision of the Federal Council, this should apply to all relevant content and not only to individual categories.
The Federal Council refers to the broad support provided by parties, cantons and umbrella associations. However, there is no final statutory regulation. What measures will ultimately enter the embassy and then enter the parliament is decided only in the further elaboration.
