On 1 January 2027, the AHV and IV rates increase by around 1.59 per cent. This is what the Federal Council decided on Friday. The basis is the mixing index, which links the development of wages and prices. [1] For personal financial planning, it is now important to see what change is in the own account.
The new amounts read correctly
The minimum AHV pension is in the future 1280 francs per month, the maximum 2560 francs. 20 or 40 francs are more than before. The upper limit for the two fixed AHV pensions of a couple is new to a total of 3840 francs. [2]
"Full pension" does not mean "maximum pension". For the calculation of the oldage pension, both the duration of the contribution and the average annual income are counted.
The technical calculation also deserves attention: According to the Federal Explanatory Notes, current pensions are re-established on the basis of the adjusted income and the new pension tables. [6] To multiply the previous payment amount simply by 1,0159, it is therefore not a binding individual pension calculation.
Two changes, two times
The adjustment from January is to be distinguished from the 13th AHV pension, which will be paid for the first time in December 2026. It is one-twelfth of the age pensions that are aligned during the calendar year.
A simplified calculation example shows the difference: with a minimum AHV pension unchanged throughout the year, 2027 results in thirteen times 1280 francs, i.e. 16’640 francs. Under the same assumptions, there are 2026 thirteen times 1260 francs, i.e. 16’380 francs.
