The round table to deal with the fire disaster of 1 January 2026 at the Le Constellation in Crans-Montana is assembled. As the Federal Office for Justice announced on 8 October, it includes representations of victims and relatives, authorities and private and social security.
The format organised by the federal government is intended to promote extrajudicial comparative solutions for compensation. It neither replaces a court nor decides on legal recognition as a victim. Participation is voluntary and non-binding; a result therefore depends on the willingness of the persons and institutions involved.
Not all those affected can sit directly at the table. Victim associations and specialized lawyers represent a number of persons affected. In addition, all interested victims and relatives should be able to get and comment on the drafted proposals at certain stages.
The first session is planned for this autumn, according to the Federal Government's information, and the discussions remain confidential, while the principles and criteria laid down at the end are to be published. A "groupe de réflexion" with experts from law, administration, science and insurance supports the work.
