For Monday, 28 September, the project partners announced the launch of the public passenger service with automated passenger cars in the Zurich Furttal. The offer of the pilot project "iamo" is to be available daily from 13 am to 5 pm.

Three vehicles are intended to operate almost 100 fixed holding points in Boppelsen, Dänikon, Hüttikon and Otelfingen. Up to three passengers can drive each car. The cars should be on the move in an automated mode in normal road traffic.

The general subscription and other ÖV subscriptions do not apply in this experiment. Young people aged 12 years or older are allowed to go alone, younger children need an adult companion. The offer is limited to trips within the operating area.

The Swiss Transit Lab, the cantons of Zurich and Aargau, as well as the SBB, are trying to test how automated vehicles could complement bus and train, for example on the way to the railway station or in less densely populated areas.

The project also requires a separate release of the Federal Office for Roads. The passenger cars now used are to be accompanied by a safety person during the entire passenger operation.
